What ships are looking for
They don’t ask for a hospitality degree. They look for three things: neatness, a smile, and a willingness to work. English is required — it is the language of the ship. Everything else is learned on board. How applying works
There are two paths: through an agency, or directly through the company. The cleanest is direct — through the company’s official careers page. Here are the real doors, for the biggest companies:- Royal Caribbean Group (Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Silversea)
- Carnival Cruise Line
- Norwegian Cruise Line
- Disney Cruise Line
- MSC Cruises
- Princess Cruises
- Holland America Line
- Cunard
- Costa Cruises
- P&O Cruises
- Virgin Voyages
- Viking
Agencies by region
Besides applying directly, you can also go through an authorized agency in your country — a company the cruise line officially recognizes. The biggest in the world is V.Crew, and CTI Group hires for Carnival, Celebrity, Oceania, Regent, Virgin and Holland America.Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro: Employment Power Ltd — info@employment-power.com (Norwegian + Royal Caribbean)

The list of agencies changes — always check the current list on the company’s official page. The interview
It is usually short. They watch how you stand, how you speak, how you look people in the eye. Remember the first lesson: make the person feel seen. It applies to interviews too. What comes next
If you pass, you’ll face a medical check, training, and a contract. All of it happens before you board. That’s not an obstacle — it’s a filter. Whoever survives the paperwork will survive the ship. One important thing
Apply only through the real website of the company, or an agency the company officially approves. Never pay anyone to “get you a job.” Never send your passport or money to a stranger who messages you. Real companies and real agencies do not charge you to apply. I’m telling you this because I fell into a scam trap myself. I know first-hand how frustrating it is — and I don’t want you to fall into the same trap. A real ship pays you. Not the other way around. The Voyage
This is The Voyage — a free series on hospitality and life at sea, for young people starting out. No ticket. No fee. Just what was learned over years on ships, passed forward, one lesson at a time.
A word from me: I’m a passionate traveler. These lessons come from a lifetime in hospitality, passed on freely. And while you enjoy your meal, here at Recept — tell us where you’d love to travel. I built TripSpot, which suggests accommodation for that trip. Maybe we’ll surprise you.tripspot-travel.com
